Don’t Stress Over Your Child During Yoga Class

Christina Souza Ma

Baby CryingBabies don’t always enjoy Yoga class. But when it’s your baby who’s acting up, it can cause so much stress on you as a mom.

Oh my goodness. The other day, I felt so bad during our regular Mommy and Baby class.

My son was just having a bad day. Nothing would make him happy. I tried toys, teething rings, water, nursing – anything and everything I could think of. He would quieten for a bit and then just get upset all over again. (more…)

Why didn’t I think of Post-Natal yoga?

Christina Souza Ma

Yoga House, Pasadena CaliforniaWhy did it take me so long to think about post-natal yoga? Since having my baby, all I’ve looked forward to was being able to take him to Mommy and Baby Yoga. Well, this week, mainly because I needed to use up my valuable series of classes, I decided to attend other classes without my little one. (more…)

Baby and Me Yoga at Mission Street Yoga

Christina Souza Ma
Baby and Mommy

This was my first experience at Mission Street Studio, which focuses on Anusara Yoga. When I arrived, it was wonderful to be greeted by one of the owners, Mara. I was running a bit late, but she was very welcoming and supportive when I rushed in with my little one. I really dislike being late for a class as I feel like I may have disrupted any flow of energy that has begun. In this case, however, I was thankful to learn that the instructor had also been stuck in traffic. (more…)

Taking Time During the Festive Season

Christina Souza Ma

redmomchild.jpgAs we rush to attempt to make our baby’s first Christmas and New Year one to remember, we need to realize this is more for ourselves as the parents than it is for our baby. As far as our precious little one is concerned, it is just another day and moment in time. (more…)

Every New Mother Needs a Time Out

Christina Souza Ma

mamayga.jpgI never took much time out for myself before my baby. I just worked as much as I could in hopes to create a strong foundation to support myself and those around me.

Now that my son has arrived, not only am I running a business, but raising him at the same time.

Raising a child is a full time gig in itself. I choose not to call it a job as it is a wonderful position to be in. How wonderful to be able to focus and spend this precious time with your baby during the strongest developmental stage of his/her life. (more…)

Free Mommy and Baby Yoga Classes at Lululemon

Christina Souza Ma

momyoga.jpgThis is where Zariyan and I started our Yoga Classes together.

This class used to be taught on their lovely back patio during the warmer months but has since moved into the store itself. First thing in the morning, before we arrive, the wonderful Educators move all the merchandise racks to accommodate us Moms and our babies. The space is small but intimate. The mothers and babies who attend are recurring so that adds to the atmosphere.

Today’s class was taught by Cindi Cnop. She is a wonderful, high spirited instructor, filled with a life force of passion to share yoga. Her classes not only focus on the issue that mother’s experience, but she also makes it a point to involve the babies into the practice. I never thought to do a Tree Pose holding my child and sitting him on the top of my head until I experienced a class with Cindi. (more…)

Christina Souza Ma

byoga.jpgAfter experiencing a class with Syd Delaski , I decided to visit her where she teaches weekly at the Yoga House in Pasadena, California. Be sure to check their schedule as it does change.

This is a beautiful facility, with two very large rooms, high ceilings and wood floors. Lots of Mats, blankets, blocks, etc.
Syd teaches a form of Viniyoga. The class was focused mainly on us Mom’s as she takes the time to make sure we connect back to our bodies and breath. Not strenuous in any way. (more…)

Christina Souza Ma

mandchild.jpgDo you have a little one?

Are you feeling a little fatigued, stressed, or even feeling like parts of your body don’t belong to you? These are only some of the symptoms I myself was experiencing and of course what affects us as parents will most definitely affect our children.

I would like to recommend “Mommy and Baby” yoga classes. I started attending my first classes at the Lululemon store in Pasadena, Ca, where they offered free classes for anyone who was interested. (more…)
