What’s WAHM?
I learned a little while ago what WAHM stood for – “Work At Home Mom”.
How many of you out there are WAHMs? I have to tell you, sometimes I feel like – WHAM! It’s as if something has just hit me hard and knocked me off my feet, throwing off my balance and my world.
At 14th months old, my child is going through the discomfort of molars cutting through his gums. High fevers, restlessness, whimpering in the middle of the night. If that’s not enough, the company I’m running is currently having wonderful technology crashes without notice, causing repercussions that can last for weeks.
Needless to say, because of all this it’s been a while since I have had the chance to attend a Yoga class. But I have to tell you, I’m grateful that Yoga is not just about a physical workout. Thank goodness the spirit of Yoga is part of our daily lives.
As I was churning in this whirlwind, I suddenly realized how I could regain consciousness simply by watching my child. Just by taking those few moments to watch him, I felt myself regain balance. My breathing calmed down, my spinning mind became still, and a smile and a laugh entered my world again. Through the simplicity of watching him, I was reminded of his incredible ability to just be in the moment of his life. He helped me remember how this is all another step in our experience and how it is all part of the great adventure of life.
I realize that, even though I haven’t been able to take Yoga classes for the past few months, my son is my teacher, my zen master – my gift of Yoga.
