Stressful Times

CSM_Mommy-Helper.JPGWell my fellow WAHMs, I hope the current economic crisis is not taking too much of a toll on your lives.

It’s been quite a roller coaster ride this past month and, of course, with the elections coming up next week, we all seem to be getting caught up in the fear that is whirling around us.

No matter how many times I have asked people not to talk about their frustrations regarding the political and economic turmoil, I continue to hear it everywhere I go – in the grocery store, at the park, and even when I’m taking a stroll in the neighborhood to shake off the day’s tensions.

So I have now made a conscious choice not to allow these stressful situations to invade my time with my son. I find that I have been taking longer moments each day to share with him, making sure that before I do, I clear all the tensions present in my body and mind. I remind myself of the need to take those deep breaths and melt away any tight muscles so that I can fully appreciate those precious moments with my son.

By taking just a few minutes to calm my body and mind, I have been able to fully immerse myself in the joy of spending time together with my son. His ability to just have fun –whether we’re tossing a ball around or cleaning the house together – reminds me of what is truly important in my life.

As always, my precious son continues to be my daily yoga.
