My Neti Pot is Haunting Me!

Francesca Silva

fear of neti pot.JPGI just finished reading one of Christina’s blogs on how many people can’t learn to be flexible and open to new ideas on health and well being. It definitely resonated with me.

I know she’s not talking about me when she mentions an individual who is stubborn and not open to the flexibility of life. At least I don’t think she’s talking about me…

Not that I’m stubborn. Of course not – no, never. I’m very stubborn about the fact that I’m not stubborn. I’m totally flexible and open to ideas and opinions from others.

So why is the Neti Pot that Christina gave me a while ago still languishing in my bathroom, unloved and unwanted? It sits there, haunting me, taunting me. Where’s my flexibility and willingness to try new things and explore different options?

When did I become so gutless?

Believe me – I’ve been through all the reasons why I should do it. I mean, it’s just an instrument (of torture). It’s not going to be that bad, for goodness sake (oh sure – have you read the other blogs?). Others have done it – and not only survived but thrived (okay, that’s true). It’ll help immensely in the long run (I know, I know).

Ah, I guess it all boils down to one thing – I am gutless (sigh).

Well, that doesn’t sit well with me at all. And I think it’s just hit me that I’ve been so busy tying myself up in knots about the Neti Pot that it’s become this BIG FEAR.
Get a grip, girl!

Okay, that’s it. I’m going to start using it next week – and I’m going to use it regularly. (Christina suggested I use it while I’m in the shower so I think I’ll try that method.) And once I’ve started using it, I have a suspicion that I’m going to be a little embarrassed about the fuss I’ve been making.

Not that I’ll admit to it, of course – I’m too stubborn!

Don’t feel so bad. It took me six months of procrastination before I did it. And when I started I just couldn’t stop. It’s now been 40+ days and I’ve only missed one day. Oh and I do it in the shower too.

    Hi Segovia,

Thanks for your words of encouragement. So does this mean I can procrastinate for another four months?! Seriously, though, I’m determined to start using my neti pot (in the shower) within the next week or two and will let you know how it’s coming along.
