Are You In Touch?
Have you felt the speed of each day? How each day seems to pass by so quickly? What happened to the days where we spent time day dreaming? Listening to music while sipping a glass of wine?
I thought it was just me who was caught up in a whirlwind of attempting to balance life and business. But no, it has affected many others. The technology in the world today has actually sped up the the way we do things – learning, communicating, playing.
Every time I take a moment to notice what is around me, there are people looking down at their phones, whether they are iPhones or not. If they are not playing or working on it (for example, replying to an email), they are actually chatting away with a friend.
Text messaging? What a concept. Everyone I know does it, from my own team to my friends. I hear it’s the easiest way to communicate with others.
I must just be old-fashioned. I miss the human touch, the voice, the energy. I believe I can shift that energy to make it flow more comfortably as I have with working on a computer, but is that what really works for me? How about you? It’s different when people are far away; then it’s a good form of communication. But when it’s just your friend or neighbor down the street, wouldn’t it be nice to have the personal touch?
I love my morning walks, my shopping at the Farmer’s Market on Sundays where we see people, hug people, meet new people, have conversations, eat, laugh and live.
