Yoga Studio Promotes Housing

Paloma Chavez

Even after a full day of teaching and running a studio, co-owner of City Yoga Rececca Benenati found the time to organize a 24-hour marathon on behalf of the Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles.

From a news report in LAYoga, over 50 yogis committed their mind, body and spirits to raising funds for Habitat for Humanity by participating in a 24-hour yoga poses marathon at City Yoga.

Throughout the evening they were supported by visiting kirtan artists, and local musical groups.  According to one of the participants Joni Yung in her news piece for LAYoga, she states” Relying on humor and sheer will to keep us going, we surrendered to a combination of emotion and exhaustion on Sunday morning flowing through surya namaskar vinyasa (sun salutations) to greet the rising sun and bid farewell to the setting moon.

City Yoga based in West Hollywood , CA partnered with the Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles in order to raise $100k for the construction of a home for a deserving family. They have also stated that they are also committed to bring together the yoga community to actually build the donated house in September. According to their donation site they have raised almost $50,000 and continuing to raise funds online.

We at YogaHub applaud the selfless efforts of City Yoga and to all those that participated in this amazing event and send them our support good wishes for the success of their fundraising.
