Wii Yoga?

Paloma Chavez

wiifit.jpgDo you Wii? A recent announcement from the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, noted that yoga will be one of the fitness related options of their new Wii Fit product. Due out in May 2008, the product is a “pressure –sensitive” balance board that will already include this new program.

According to their site the board can be used for a variety of movements including aerobic, muscle stretches and yoga. The program will be based on slower exercise movements that are intended to work one’s core areas of their body.  In addition Wii Fit will also be combined with the Wii Fit Channel. The channel is an “interactive online channel that lets users check in daily to track fitness progress through weight and body mass index (BMI).”

This is perhaps not the best way to truly engage with your yoga practice, but it may provide a fun avenue for those curious about yoga, but are hesitant to seek it out.

The whole Wii craze is… crazy! When I was in Japan, they were coming out with this fitness centered Wii where it has a scale that will tell your BMI, etc etc. It is indeed the technology age… move over treadmills!

    Interesting post

There’s nothing like being healthy. In today’s world, we must workout occasionally and get rid off our bad diet habits. It’s not extremely hard. You only need to stick to a workout program and continue until you reach your objectives.

Thank you very much for sharing this with us.
