Rewards for a Hero

mattteach.jpgA few months ago we brought you the story of Matt Sanford, who at the age of 13 was paralyzed from a car accident.  In his struggle to improve his mobility and decrease his chronic physical suffering, he began to take Iyengar yoga classes.  From this his life opened up before him and he is now one of the most sought after teachers of adaptive yoga. His unique efforts and unselfish acts have resulted in his nomination for a Volvo for Life Award.

The award consists of $100,000 to the winner’s charity of choice, plus a Volvo every three years for the rest of their lives. The winner is chosen by way of an online voting system. So, starting in November and until noon on January 7th 2008 you can go online and place your vote for Matt in the Quality of Life section.

“Protecting our kids. Helping our neighbors. Saving our earth. This is what heroes do-the real-life heroes we honor each year at the Volvo for life Awards.” And given this definition, we feel Matt Sanford is a deserving recipient of this honor.

To cast your vote for Matt, visit the Volvo for Life Award site and read more about his story and the other extraordinary individuals in the areas of Environment, Safety and the Butterfly Award for youth 16 and under.
