Navaratri: Day of Victory

Margaret Kruszewska

Navaratri-DurgaThe tenth day of the navaratri (which means “nine nights”) is known as Durga’s Day of Victory.  Celebrated differently in various regions in India with dancing, puja, food, visits and festivals, it marks the end of Durga visiting us in this realm.

One year, we celebrated this Day of Victory at yoginis yoga studio (in Los Angeles) by celebrating the potential for being victorious – in achieving peace.  Although the Durga tale is one of her ultimate victory of slaying the buffalo demon – the demon can be war itself – and finally only our fierce mother can put an end to IT.
Jai Durga Ma!
