The first annual Yoga Rocks! Mountain Fest’ kicks off Friday, August 23 in Lyons, Colorado and runs through Sunday. The weekend will bring yoga teachers, musicians and shared meditation sessions to the Planet Bluegrass Ranch. If anyone gets hungry during the festival, organic and vegetarian vendors will be on hand with a selection of foods as well. Noted yoga teacher Seane Corn is the keynote speaker and will be leading a two-hour Vinyasa flow workshop.

Yoga students at the Focus Yoga studio in Brookfield, Illinois, are enjoying a nurturing environment of yoga and meditation with the repeated sound of gongs resonating in their ears. This unusual and imaginative way of practicing yoga is known as a “gong bath.”

Yoga teacher Michelle Pietrzak-Wegner was deeply moved by the plight of survivors of the natural disasters that occurred in Myanmar and China earlier this year. In an effort to provide some solace to them, she joined forces with Souls4Soles, an international charity organization that provides shoes to people in need.

This week, in the beautiful valley of Telluride, Colorado, the first annual Telluride Yoga Festival will welcome local and international yoga practitioners for a three- day retreat. From July 11 to 13, the festival will be offering an array of classes, seminars, and performances led by leading yoga teachers and health professionals.

In May 2008, noted celebrities donated their time and creativity to designing yoga bags for the Libby Ross Foundation OM Yoga Program. Mother-and-daughter teams included Susan Sarandon and her daughter Eva Amurri, and Trish and daughter Miley Cyrus.
