To Practice in Nature

yoganature.jpgIn La Canada, California lays a lush botanical retreat – Descanso Gardens. Easy access and open pathways is a common draw for the community and surrounding neighborhoods. For the last couple of years they have offered a series of Fitness Walks and Yoga Classes. This week will be the beginning of their summer session.

Over ten weeks yoga teachers Cara Davis and Cam Hall provide personal instruction through a 25-minute walk through the gardens followed with a 60-minute yoga class. The yoga classes take place in one of the Craftsman-styled rooms that is spacious and has several windows looking out to the adjacent garden and patios.

Descanso Gardens’ Wellness Program promotes the idea of recognizing the “ healing powers of the beauty of nature.” Along with the fitness walks and yoga classed they also offers Tai Chi on the outdoor lawns and hula in the gardens. It is a great way to enjoy the outdoors and have a unique yoga experience.
