News Item: Study of How Yoga helps breast cancer patients
Conclusion: Yoga helps women physically and emotionally to cope with the side effects after breast cancer surgery and radiation treatment.
Details of Study:
A group of 61 women who had surgery for breast cancer and also received radiation treatment was the subject of a study at University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center . The women were divided into two groups, one assigned to twice-a-week yoga classes. After 6 weeks the women completed a questionnaire that assessed their ability to do simple physical tasks as well as their emotional well-being. The yoga group showed higher scores for both physical and emotional factors.
