lululemon athletica has just newly appointed Ms. Christine Day as their new CEO in Vancouver. In their recent announcement Ms. Day says “”For me, of all the places I could have ended up when I left Starbucks, this would have been a bull’s-eye.”

In her 20 years at Starbucks she easily moved up to senior positions and left there as the President of Asia Pacific operations. She believes that the fast growing lululemon is one that is offering an edge in the yoga clothing market. With stores now opening beyond Canada they number 40 in Canada and 34 in the U.S., while several others are opening overseas. She will begin her new position in June when her predecessor Bob Meers is scheduled to retire. Although he will act as council for the remaining fiscal year.

In this new challenge of leading a rapidly growing organization she says “Part of it is that you have that balance and really stay true to what’s core,” said Day.
