What Are You Hungry For?
When you look deeply into your soul, or when you relax and dream about what you really want… what are you hungry for? What do you want to ‘eat’ that will fill your heart with satisfaction?
When there is hunger, it usually means that there is something that we need. Something that we hunger for. It could be food, Love, friendship, or a satisfying job that we are hungering for. It is this feeling of hunger, which keeps us looking for whatever it is that will provide the nourishment to satiate and alleviate the need.
From moment to moment, our most urgent physical needs are satisfied. We find it fairly easy to find enough to eat, to have shelter that is comfortable and warm. Some of us have satisfying friendships and relationships — and there is usually some form of employment that, if not hugely fulfilling, does guarantee that the basic physical needs can be attained.
But what about some of the more invisible hungers of the heart and of the soul?
We can easily be satisfied physically, and yet still be hungering incessantly and achingly for a satisfaction that addresses our deepest and most pure questions of self and life. It is these hungers, these needs, that can be accessed and followed. By noticing the hungers of the heart, we can actually step into a life that satisfies all levels of our being.
So ask yourself, what you are hungry for?
If you could have anything you want, what would it be? What do you dream about or long for that you feel there isn’t enough time for, or that you don’t have enough money to achieve?
Now go even deeper into your essence…what is it that you feel may be just out of your range of sight? Is there an inkling? A tingling somewhere that you recognize but haven’t quite identified yet?
Without thinking about what you ‘should’ want or ‘should’ do, bypass that whole mind set and be open to what you really are all about. You have everything you need to free your truth within yourself right now. You may not yet speak the language that will allow you to converse with this truth, but the more you ask for its participation, the easier it will be for you to hear the answer!
So ask, and ask again, until you find the answer that resonates deeply within your soul…
What am I hungry for?
