All I Want for Christmas…
It’s that time of year again. You know – time to spread love and joy and peace and harmony…
What planet am I from?! Have you been Christmas shopping yet? Where’s the love, the joy, the peace, the harmony? Never mind that – where’s the nearest pub…I need a drink to fortify myself for Christmas shopping (and I don’t even drink)!
Every year in late November/early December, Mumsie and I take our lives in our hands and head out shopping for Christmas gifts. And every year, the same thing happens – we end up watching in horror as people push and shove their way through the crowds, barking at one another in frustration, and getting themselves all tied up in knots while trying and find the “perfect gift.”
Well, this year, I’ve decided what I want for Christmas – nothing. Nothing concrete, that is. There’s no single item I feel I must have and nothing I really want – except time with my loved ones.
It’s been a really busy year for my husband work-wise, so he hasn’t had much time to just kick back and relax. And Mumsie is turning 92 on New Year’s Eve – while she’s still wonderfully spry and alert, the years are piling on. So that’s all I really want this Christmas – to spend precious time with my husband, Mumsie, and other loved ones.
As far as I’m concerned, that’s the most precious gift I could ever have.

Here here Francesca! It is so important to spend time with your loved ones. That is more important than any gift money can buy.
Francesca, you took the words right out of my mouth. To me, I think that is the “perfect gift.”
I will celebrate Christmas with my family.
