Beginner's Yoga Body
Today I go to a yoga class at an unfamiliar studio with a teacher I do not know and students I have never seen before. Where do I sign-in? What about my old yoga mat? What are all these extra blocks, blankets, yoga equipment and yoga props for?
All these beginners’ thoughts start whizzing around my mind.
Beginner’s mind is a common term in Zen meditation. It describes the emotional and mental state of remaining open and present in the moment. This is what I acquire by putting myself at the teacher’s feet. (A sign of great respect and willingness to learn in teacher-student spiritual learning models).
That means I must show what I do not know as well as what I already know. I have beginner’s yoga body today!
