Sunscreen Accelerates Cancer. What’s New?

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010
Elbert

Wow. This article just invoked all kinds of emotions in me. Frustration. Anxiety. Awkwardness. Confusion. Once all that passed though, there was a strange calm that I experienced. I mean, really, does news like this “shock” anyone anymore? While that fact is sad in and of itself, it seems that every time I turn around, something new causes cancer. Mother Nature is not so easily rebuffed, as she can be as brutal as she is beautiful. (more…)

Healthy Foods Finally Explained

Wednesday, May 12th, 2010
Angie

I was wandering through the bookstore the other day and came across an excellent book called “The World’s Healthiest Foods,” by George Mateljan. I don’t consider myself knowledgeable in food at all. When going to the grocery store, I just pick what looks fresh, without necessarily knowing how to pick them. Most of the time, it is just whatever “looks fresh.(more…)

Hydration Nation

Friday, April 2nd, 2010
jared

I’m sensitive. My body, I mean. Fast food, alcohol…can’t do ’em like I used to. One thing that has really surprised me is that I’m more aware of keeping hydrated. When I don’t have enough water, my eyes dry out and feel tired. (more…)

Crazy Monday

Thursday, March 11th, 2010
Angie

Warning: This blog post deals with the “woman’s cycle.” Guys, if you don’t feel like reading it, I totally understand, but if you want a taste of why women get so irritated during that time, then read on. Hopefully it will provide you with a better understanding of what we women go through. (more…)

Don’t Be Too Late

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

eye-pillow.jpgI’ve been working literally like crazy recently. Since half of the YH team members were gone during the holidays, the rest of us had to work twice as hard to prepare everything for the upcoming virtual yoga conference. We were supposed to have a day off on December 31st, and then it became a half-day off, but we ended up staying until 4 o’clock on the New Year’s Eve. (more…)

Neti Pot During the Trip to Prescott

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009
Madoka

prescott.jpgAs some of you have already read in my previous blog, I went to Prescott, Arizona to attend the film festival because the feature film I worked on was being screened. A week prior to the trip with my co-directors, there was heavy rain in Los Angeles and I guess in Prescott as well. Because of the storm, I was told that the small town was covered by snow. (more…)

Holiday Rumblings

Balloon-Fruit-Cornucopia.jpgSince I was so sick two weeks ago, I spent last week recovering. It truly is a wonderful thing to be healthy, and it’s something that must be constantly striven for because it can disappear in the blink of an eye.

In celebration of my recovery, I hit the gym for the first time in a couple of weeks, and it was tough, though not as tough as I thought it would be. (more…)

Is Zicam Safe?

Tuesday, December 8th, 2009
jared

Zicam.jpgIf you haven’t already heard the news, in the summer of 2009 the FDA issued a warning that Zicam (a popular nasal spray containing Zinc Gluconate) can cause long lasting or permanent loss of smell.

I thought it was important to bring this up because the cold season is upon us and you may come across this spray while perusing the cold remedy isle in your local drugstore. While the debate rages on about whether or not Zicam is directly responsible for a reported 130 cases of anosmia (loss of smell), I’ll take a pass on Zicam and stick to some Echinacea tea.

H1N1 and the ‘Common’ Flu

Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009
jared

Swine-Flu.jpgWell, the consequences of my drunken fiasco (albeit for a good cause) continue…I’ve been sick for the past week or so. Like any other common citizen, I immediately thought, “I have SWINE FLU!!!!” Well, let’s hope not. This whole (miserable) experience has prompted me to ask myself - what if I do have H1N1? So I did some digging and here are the symptoms of H1N1: (more…)

Is A Chiropractor Helpful?

Thursday, November 5th, 2009
Madoka

Chiropractic.jpgRecently, I went to see a new chiropractor who was recommended to me by some people I know. I’ve always been in pretty good condition and have not suffered from any acute pain, but because the chiropractor is still studying under a supervisor at a chiropractic school, the cost of the examination was a lot cheaper. So I thought why not take advantage of this, which is the main reason I went to see him. (more…)
