A Spiritual Triathlon “The Spirathon”
We at YogaHub are always interested in promoting events that will bring awareness to our community and support you in your personal journey to find balance in life. With this in mind, we are eager to spread the word on an upcoming event, The Spirathon, which will take place in Los Angeles on September 11, 2010.
What's a Spirathon? Simply put, it's a triathlon of the spirit. This unique fundraising event will encompass workshops on meditation, yoga and spinning (also known as the Five Rhythms) to create an individual transformational experience. It's an opportunity for you to reach deep within yourself and reconnect with your spirit.
Facilitators for this event will include Nicholas Pratley, the founder of Intruessence.com and an experienced holistic practitioner, healer and writer of the healing arts; Colin Kim, a dynamic yoga and meditation expert who specializes in guiding individuals through their practice with strength and compassion; Sharon Jeffers, a specialist in energetic and balancing work, life coaching programs, and intuitive readings; and Jay Kumar, noted author, yoga authority and energy healer who has spoken at the World Congress of Psychology and Spirituality in India alongside the Dalai Lama.
The aim of this inspirational event is to benefit every individual. And as every person transforms spiritually, this in turn will benefit a child in need. 90% of the event proceeds will go directly to The Strongheart Fellowship, “a groundbreaking healing and learning guidance program designed to help bright, resilient young people from extremely challenging circumstances around the globe develop into compassionate, innovative problem-solvers and leaders that can affect significant social change and empower children everywhere.”
Registration for this innovative and motivational event is now open so make sure you check out thespirathonevent.com for more information.
How Clean is your Mat?
Are you always conscientious about the cleanliness of your mat after a your yoga or workout session? It used to disturb me when I rolled up my mat and then, the next time I used it, I would find all these little foreign particles imbedded in it – not to mention the time there were glass shards. Then there are also other possible substances that I might pick up from the bottoms of my feet. Need I say more?
Well, I learned to do a few things to prevent this. I once watched as another individual folded their mat in half before rolling it up. Although that's a smart idea, do be careful as some mats cannot tolerate the fold.
