The team here at YogaHub would like to wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving season and, in doing so, we are giving our members, their friends and family a 15% discount in our ShopYogaHub online store. Instead of just offering this to you on “Black Friday”(which we have chosen to call it “GREEN FRIDAY”), we are sharing this with you and your loved ones from now until the last day of November to give you enough opportunity to shop.
Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Can Yoga help a Diabetic?
Living with a chronic illness is never easy. Imagine how it would feel to constantly have to monitor every miniscule detail of your diet, knowing that any imbalance could result in a rapid deterioration of your health. This is what diabetics have to deal with on a daily basis.
Diabetes is a chronic ailment that affects over 18 million people in the United States alone. As most of us are aware, diabetes is a condition that impacts the way in which our bodies use insulin, the hormone responsible for converting starches and sugar into energy in our bodies. If not managed correctly, diabetes can lead to more serious illnesses and even death.
November is American Diabetes Month® and this year the American Diabetes Association is focusing on taking a more vigorous approach with their Stop Diabetes national movement. By emphasizing the need to “share, act, learn, and give,” the American Diabetes Association is encouraging people to learn more about how to combat and control this chronic condition.
When treating diabetes, most physicians focus on two key points: healthy eating and physical activity. These two factors are, of course, not only beneficial in helping to manage diabetes but are also advantageous in controlling blood pressure, lowering the risks of heart disease and cancer, and increasing energy and fitness levels. Yoga, in particular, has shown a great deal of promise.
Numerous studies have cited the enormous benefits that yoga has on controlling diabetes. The philosophy of yoga emphasizes the importance of maintaining an individual's balance by exercising the mind, body, and spirit. Rather than relying solely on western modes of treatment, yoga practitioners are encouraged to take a holistic approach as a way of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Additionally, asanas are highly beneficial in helping to stretch and flex the pancreas, thereby activating the production of insulin, which is crucial for diabetics. Back bends and abdominal compressions taught in yoga specifically stimulate internal organs, thereby improving digestion, liver and kidney functions. A regular practice of yoga, therefore, will not only help individuals regulate their insulin levels, but will also maintain their physical fitness, improve blood circulation, and reduce the stress of living with diabetes.

Are You Embracing Who You Are? by Amy Cheryl
Soooo my readers, I went out to dinner tonight with some amazing women I am attending a workshop with.
Now, when it comes to ordering food, I am the “Sally” in the movie “When Harry met Sally.” (Am I dating myself? LOL!) I have ALWAYS been like this…even as a child, I remember as clear as day not eating the fried egg if it broke. Many Sunday mornings, my entire family would wind up having “broken yolked fried eggs” for breakfast as a result of my innate “divaness.” Continue Reading...
