What's New in the World of Yoga:
As committed yoga enthusiasts, we appreciate the benefits of maintaining overall flexibility, strength, and balance. We rely on yoga to help us recover from injuries or to offer us relief from ailments such as stress, high blood pressure, and menopause. And now we can even use its benefits to help us deal with those dreaded wrinkles that inevitably come with aging.
Although it is often considered a woman's vanity to be concerned with aging, a survey by the National Consumers League recently found that both men and women are self-conscious about the effects of aging. Many men and women believe that a youthful appearance is important for achieving professional success as well as personal satisfaction. And according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, in 2006 $11.5 billion was spent on cosmetic procedures.
But not everybody wants to go under the knife or spend a fortune on plastic surgery. For a fun alternative to those expensive treatments and surgical procedures, why not consider "The Yoga Face: Eliminate Wrinkles with the Ultimate Natural Facelift" by Annelise Hagen? In this book, Annelise takes you through "a natural anti-aging regimen that women can do anytime and anywhere – and in just minutes". Chapters in the book include "Traditional Yoga Poses That Help the Face," and "Regain Your Youth with Facial Fitness."
Annelise, an experienced yoga instructor who has worked in yoga studios in New York City, also teaches her Yoga Face program at the New York Health & Racquet Club. "Through repetition and resistance, you can be proactive when it comes to the aging process," says Hagen.
Annelise's workout consists of incorporating traditional yoga postures with face-specific exercises that fight wrinkles, help reduce tension, and tone the muscles for a more youthful appearance. Yoga exercises include "The Satchmo," which "strengthens the cheeks," and "Kiss the Ceiling" that tightens the neck and throat.
Of course, we all know that beauty is skin deep, and that with age comes wisdom - but sometimes we just want to look as young as we feel!
So if you've always wanted to stick your tongue out or make funny faces, Yoga Face may be the perfect fit for you - and the added benefit is that it will work wonders on helping you get rid of all those telltale signs of aging!
